No-Bird Zones Planned at Lahore Airport for Passenger Flight Safety

The Punjab government has started a major operation to reduce bird activity near Lahore Airport to make flying safer for everyone. Following orders from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, officials have now declared several nearby areas as “No Bird Zones.”

The district administration, Punjab Wildlife Department, and Environment Protection Agency are working together to watch over places like Eastern Bypass, Manawan, PKLI, Ichhra, and Chah Miran. The main goal is to stop birds from flying near the airport, especially during take-off and landing, which is when bird strikes are most dangerous.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has been given the responsibility to lead Punjab’s first special Wildlife Force. This new team of field rangers will make sure people follow the rules to keep the airspace safe.

To control the bird population, strict rules have been introduced for slaughterhouses, poultry farms, and bakeries close to the airport. These businesses can no longer throw out waste in the open or feed birds in public places. Garbage dumping has been banned, and everyone must use covered waste bins to stop birds from gathering.

If anyone breaks these rules, they can face legal action under the Punjab Wildlife Act. The government wants to make sure everyone follows these steps to meet international aviation safety standards.

This new plan shows that the Punjab government is serious about protecting passengers and planes from dangerous bird strikes, keeping flights safe, and meeting global safety requirements.
