‘No Makeup, No Heels’ Sindh Sets New Dress Code for School Teachers

The Sindh Education Department has introduced a new code of conduct for teachers to promote a professional and respectful environment in schools.

According to the guidelines, female teachers are advised to wear traditional clothing and avoid heavy makeup and high heels. Male teachers are encouraged to wear formal attire, with T-shirts and jeans considered unsuitable for the workplace.

The department has also imposed a strict ban on smoking, using tobacco, or consuming any other substances within school premises. Teachers are further prohibited from assigning personal tasks to students, ensuring that the learning environment remains focused on education.

In addition to the new guidelines, the department has taken steps to address the issue of ghost teachers — those who receive salaries without attending work. Actions have been taken against these individuals, and efforts are ongoing to ensure accountability within the education sector.

To fill gaps in staffing, the Sindh government is planning to hire new teachers based on merit. This initiative aims to improve the quality of education by ensuring that qualified and dedicated educators are part of the school system.

The department believes these measures will create a more disciplined and respectful atmosphere in schools, benefiting both students and teachers. Officials also stress the importance of professionalism and commitment in providing quality education.

The new policies are part of a broader effort to enhance educational standards and build a more transparent and accountable school system in Sindh.
