No More Cheating? Punjab to Use Face Detection Technology for Transparent Exams

For the first time, Punjab’s School Education Department (SED) has introduced face detection technology to help prevent cheating in the 2025 matriculation exams.

Rana Sikandar Hayat, the Minister for School Education, and Muzammil Mehmood, the Chairman of the Task Force for Education, visited key exam centers to check the arrangements and make sure the exams were being conducted fairly. They carried out surprise inspections to ensure that everything was going according to plan and that the process was transparent.

The introduction of face detection technology is part of a series of new measures, such as 3D bar-code verification and QR-coded roll number slips, designed to prevent cheating. These efforts have been very successful, with cheating cases dropping by 90%. This has helped create a more trustworthy and secure environment for students during their exams.

The goal of these new technologies is to ensure that students are tested fairly and honestly, without the influence of cheating. The face detection system helps to verify the identity of students, while the QR-coded roll number slips make it easier to track and manage the examination process.

These measures have significantly improved the credibility of the examination system in Punjab. The decrease in cheating cases shows that technology can play a big role in ensuring fairness in education. The government’s commitment to providing a secure and transparent environment for students is evident, and it sets an example for other regions to follow.
