The ICC announced the Team of the Tournament for the Champions Trophy 2025, with New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner chosen as the captain. The squad includes only players from India, New Zealand, and Afghanistan, reflecting their strong performances throughout the tournament. No Pakistani players were selected.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran were named as the opening batters. Ravindra scored two centuries and also contributed with the ball, while Zadran played a key role in Afghanistan’s campaign with consistent performances.

India’s Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul were included in the middle order. Kohli had a standout tournament, scoring an unbeaten century against Pakistan. Iyer and Rahul also played crucial innings, with Rahul maintaining a perfect batting average as the team’s wicketkeeper.

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips and Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai were selected as all-rounders. Phillips delivered with both bat and ball, while Omarzai made a major impact, including a five-wicket haul against England.

Mitchell Santner, in addition to captaining the squad, was one of the standout bowlers, maintaining an impressive economy rate. India’s Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy, along with New Zealand’s Matt Henry, formed the pace attack. Henry finished as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker.

India’s Axar Patel was named as the 12th player, recognized for his all-round contributions.

The selection highlights the dominance of India, New Zealand, and Afghanistan in the tournament. The absence of Pakistani players reflects their disappointing campaign, while the chosen players were instrumental in their teams’ success.
