Shanghai: Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), one of China’s most prestigious and historic institutions, has officially opened applications for its 2026 intake under multiple fully funded scholarship programs for international students, including the highly sought-after Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS).

Ranked 47th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, SJTU is internationally recognized for its academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and world-class faculty. Established in 1896, the university has built a strong global reputation and continues to attract top talent from around the world.

For the 2026 academic year, SJTU is inviting international students to apply for Master’s (MS) and Doctoral (PhD) programs across a wide range of disciplines. Successful candidates will have access to several funding options, including the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS), SJTU Fellowship, and SJTU Tuition Waiver Scholarships.

According to the university, these scholarships are designed to remove financial barriers for outstanding students and promote global academic exchange. Most of the funding schemes offer full tuition coverage, monthly stipends, on-campus or subsidized accommodation, and comprehensive medical insurance, making SJTU an attractive destination for higher education.

The scholarship programs cover diverse academic fields, spanning engineering, sciences, medicine, business, social sciences, and technology-related disciplines, aligning with SJTU’s strong emphasis on innovation and research-led education.

University officials stated that the 2026 scholarship cycle reflects China’s continued commitment to international education and collaboration. “By welcoming students from different countries and backgrounds, SJTU aims to foster cross-cultural understanding and develop future global leaders,” the university noted.

A comprehensive guide has been released detailing degree levels, available subjects, eligibility criteria, scholarship benefits, application deadlines, and the complete application process for international applicants interested in SJTU scholarships for 2026.

With fully funded opportunities and a strong global standing, Shanghai Jiao Tong University continues to position itself as a leading destination for students seeking high-quality education and research exposure in China.

Interested candidates are advised to review the official guidelines carefully and submit their applications within the stipulated deadlines to be considered for these competitive scholarship programs.
