Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, wrote on X platform on Friday, expressing his appreciation for Qatar’s embrace and the participation of its leadership in the funeral procession of Ismail Haniyeh during these difficult circumstances.
Dr Gargash offered sincere condolences to Haniyeh’s family.
Dr Gargash affirmed that the UAE’s position remains steadfast in rejecting violence and political assassinations in all forms, emphasizing that stability can only be achieved through justice, wisdom, and dialogue.
Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, took part in the funeral ceremony of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political bureau, which was held at the Mohammed Bin Abdul Wahab Mosque in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Last Wednesday, Hamas announced that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of its political bureau, and a member of his security team were killed in an Israeli strike on his residence in Tehran, following his participation in the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new president.
On the other hand, nearly two-thirds of the buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed since the Gaza war began in October, the United Nations said Friday.
“UNOSAT’s latest damage building assessment, based on satellite imagery… reveals that 151,265 structures have been affected in the Gaza Strip,” the UN Satellite Centre said.
“Of these, 30 per cent were destroyed, 12 per cent severely damaged, 36 per cent moderately damaged, and 20 percent possibly damaged, representing approximately 63 per cent of the total structures in the region.”
