Over 100 wedding guests booked for aerial firing in Kasur, attack on police

KASUR: Khudian police on Sunday lodged a case against over 100 wedding guests for aerial firing and attacking policemen at a private housing society near Mandi Mor. The attackers managed to get two suspects released from police custody.

According to police, they responded to calls at 15 where callers complained about aerial firing and fireworks. Police reached the spot and arrested two wedding guests, namely Sarfraz and Ashfaq.

According to the first information report (FIR), over 100 wedding guests, 20 of them nominated, attacked the police, tore up their uniforms and got the two men released. A video clip also went viral on social media, showing about a dozen men using sophisticated weapons while firing into the air.

Earlier, on Saturday, three young wedding guests, including two women, suffered injuries when two guests resorted to jubilation firing at a wedding at village Tatara Kamal in the limits of Mandi Usmanwala. In another incident, a couple of days back, a wedding guest was shot during aerial firing at the wedding of Muhammad Yasir at village Qila Daokay in the limits of Mandi Usmanwala police area.

SUICIDES: A man committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof, while two others attempted suicide because of poverty in three separate incidents on Sunday.

According to details, unemployed youth Muhammad Asif hanged himself with the ceiling fan of his house after his wife left him, near Ittefaq Adda locality in the limits of Phoolnagar police station.

In another incident, 20-year-old Muzamal of village Wadana, in the limits of Mustafabad police station, took poisonous pills after failing to pay his debt.

Separately, 72-year-old Ghulam Nabi of village Sarai Chhenba, in the limits of Phoolnagar police station, attempted suicide by taking poison due to poverty. Police were looking into each matter separately.
