Over 151,000 Pakistani Workers Went to Gulf Countries in Last Three Months

In the first three months of 2025, more than 151,000 Pakistani workers traveled to Gulf countries for jobs, according to official data. Saudi Arabia welcomed the largest number of workers, with over 121,000 Pakistanis arriving there. Other popular destinations included the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain.

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment shared that in total, 172,144 Pakistanis went abroad for work between January and March 2025. Most of these workers were hired as drivers, technicians, electricians, masons, and engineers.

These overseas workers play a big role in supporting Pakistan’s economy. They send money—called remittances—back to their families in Pakistan. This money helps not just the families, but also boosts the national economy. In March 2025 alone, Pakistan received a record $4.1 billion in remittances.

The rising number of Pakistani workers going abroad shows strong demand for skilled and semi-skilled labor in the Gulf region. It also highlights the importance of training and preparing workers so they can find good job opportunities overseas.

Pakistan’s government is working to make the process smoother for workers, from job placements to overseas travel. With better policies and training, even more people could benefit from working abroad and sending money home.

These workers are not just finding jobs—they’re building better futures for themselves and helping Pakistan’s economy grow.
