Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed a concerning fact: more than 22 million children in Pakistan are not attending school. He urged Muslim countries to make girls’ education a top priority to address this critical issue.

While speaking at the “International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities” held in Islamabad, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant challenges Muslim nations face in providing equal educational opportunities for girls.

PM Shehbaz emphasized the transformative potential of educating girls, stating that they represent the future workforce. By empowering young girls through education, they can help break the cycle of poverty and make valuable contributions to the global economy.

Despite women forming more than half of Pakistan’s population, the literacy rate among women is just 49%. A large number of out-of-school children are girls, making this issue even more urgent.

The conference brought together international figures, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, to discuss strategies and solutions for promoting girls’ education in Muslim communities.

This gathering underscored the critical role education plays in building a brighter future. The Prime Minister’s call to action is a reminder of the importance of investing in girls’ education to unlock their full potential and foster progress in society.
