During the first ten days of Ramadan, Masjid al-Haram in Makkah saw an incredible 25 million visitors, according to the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. More than 5.5 million Muslims performed Umrah in this period, making it one of the busiest times in the holy mosque.

To handle the huge number of worshippers, over 11,000 workers and 4,000 cleaning staff have been assigned to keep the mosque running smoothly. These workers are supervised by 350 Saudi managers. The mosque is cleaned five times a day to maintain hygiene and provide a comfortable prayer environment.

To ensure visitors have easy access to fresh drinking water, 20,000 Zamzam dispensers have been placed around the mosque. Additionally, advanced cooling and air filtration systems have been installed to maintain a pleasant indoor atmosphere, especially during the large gatherings.

The sound system at Masjid al-Haram is also well-equipped to reach all worshippers. With over 8,000 speakers installed across the mosque, prayers and announcements are clearly heard by everyone. Furthermore, 120,000 lighting units keep the mosque bright, ensuring a peaceful and spiritual experience for those praying.

The massive crowds highlight the deep devotion of Muslims worldwide who come to Makkah for prayer and Umrah during Ramadan. With careful planning and modern technology, authorities are ensuring a smooth experience for worshippers. As Ramadan continues, millions more are expected to visit, making it a time of great spiritual significance and unity.
