An overseas Pakistani was left surprised and worried after receiving an electronic traffic challan for a violation in Lahore, even though his motorcycle was parked safely at his home at the time.

According to officials, the incident came to light when the challan showed that a motorcycle with the same registration number had been involved in a traffic violation on December 28. The e-challan also included a photograph of a rider who was not wearing a helmet. This confirmed that someone else had used a fake number plate identical to the original one to commit the offence.

The motorcycle owner, who lives abroad, immediately informed his family in Lahore. His brother then visited the Muslim Town police station and formally filed a complaint. He requested strict legal action against the unknown person who used the fake number plate and caused trouble for an innocent vehicle owner.

Police officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway. They are reviewing traffic camera footage and other records to identify the suspect responsible for using the counterfeit number plate. Authorities have also stated that steps will be taken to stop the misuse of vehicle registration numbers and to protect citizens from similar incidents in the future.

The case has raised concerns about the illegal use of fake number plates and the problems it can create for genuine vehicle owners, especially those living overseas.
