Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Aamer, previously Corps Commander Gujranwala, has been named Pakistan’s new ambassador to Qatar. Earlier this year, he was also appointed as the ambassador to the UAE.
Lt Gen Aamer retired from the military last year after a distinguished career. He served as Military Secretary to former President Asif Ali Zardari and commanded important military formations in Gujranwala.
His new appointment comes after Qatar formally approved his nomination. He will take over from Dr. Mohammad Ejaz, who has been reassigned as Pakistan’s ambassador to Belarus.
In other recent diplomatic appointments, Marghub Saleem Butt has been selected as Pakistan’s ambassador to Switzerland, while Naveed Bokhari will replace Imran Chaudhry as ambassador to Oman.
These new appointments highlight Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations with key countries. Lt Gen Aamer’s extensive experience in leadership and administration is expected to play a vital role in fostering closer ties with Qatar, a significant ally in the Gulf region.
