The passport backlog in Pakistan has officially been resolved, as announced by Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the Director General of Immigration and Passports. He made the statement after paying an unexpected visit to the passport production unit.

Since July 1, over 3.3 million passports have been printed, including 776,451 normal passports, 1,896,403 urgent passports, and 703,656 fast-track passports. Qazi commended the passport production team for their hard work and determination in clearing the backlog.

Citizens are now invited to collect their passports directly from regional passport offices, as the distribution process has been completed. This means there will no longer be delays in receiving passports.

In a related development, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the new Passport and Immigration Headquarters along with the Islamabad Regional Passport Office, which will now operate around the clock, 24/7.

This is expected to improve convenience for citizens seeking passport services. Furthermore, the government is planning to offer 24/7 passport services at NADRA mega centers across 14 cities.

This initiative will make it easier for people to access passport services at any time, reducing the need to visit during regular office hours. These changes aim to streamline passport services and provide greater convenience for the public.
