Pakistan Declares February 8 as National Day of Mourning for Prince Karim Aga Khan IV

The Government of Pakistan has announced that February 8, 2025, will be observed as a National Day of Mourning to honor the late spiritual leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, Prince Shah Karim Al-Husseini, Aga Khan IV.

Prince Karim Aga Khan passed away at the age of 88. In a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, it was confirmed that the national flag will be lowered to half-mast across the country as a sign of respect.

Born on December 13, 1936, in Geneva, Prince Karim Aga Khan was a highly respected leader and philanthropist. Throughout his life, he worked for the betterment of people worldwide, making a significant impact on communities through various development projects. His contributions to education, healthcare, and social welfare have touched millions of lives.

The government and the people of Pakistan are deeply saddened by his passing. The Prime Minister has expressed his sorrow on behalf of the entire nation, acknowledging the Aga Khan’s role in promoting progress and harmony.

The National Day of Mourning will take place on the same day as His Highness’s funeral, allowing Pakistanis to pay tribute to his legacy. His work and dedication to humanitarian causes will always be remembered.
