A new overland trade corridor has reportedly been launched, connecting Pakistan with several Central Asian states through Iran, according to officials from Pakistan Customs. The development marks a significant step in expanding regional connectivity, enabling the movement of goods through a shorter and potentially more efficient transit route that links South Asia with Central Asia via Iranian territory.
Under this arrangement, goods originating from Pakistan are expected to pass through Iran before reaching multiple destinations across Central Asia. Officials say the initiative is aimed at improving trade flow, reducing transportation costs, and strengthening economic cooperation among the participating regions. The route is also being seen as part of broader efforts to enhance regional integration and facilitate cross-border commerce.
