Pakistan Passport Listed Among Lowest Ranked Globally in 2025

Pakistan has been placed near the bottom of the Nomad Passport Index 2025, ranking 195th out of 199 countries. This low position highlights the challenges Pakistani passport holders face when it comes to international travel. Only four countries scored lower in the global list.

The Nomad Passport Index ranks countries based on several important factors, including how many countries their citizens can travel to without a visa, taxation rules, global reputation, freedom to hold dual citizenship, and personal freedom. Even though there have been some small improvements, Pakistan’s passport is still seen as one of the weakest in the world for travel freedom.

At the top of the list is Ireland, which earned the highest score thanks to its strong global image, visa-free access to many countries, and flexible rules around taxes and dual citizenship. Most of the countries in the top 10 are from Europe, showing the continent’s strong standing in global mobility. However, the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand were the only non-European countries that managed to break into the top 10.

Pakistan’s low ranking reflects the need for continued efforts to improve global relations, enhance personal freedoms, and offer citizens greater opportunities for travel and international mobility.
