Pakistan Railways is launching a major project to upgrade its train system by introducing modern Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) trains. These new trains are designed to make travel faster, more comfortable, and efficient for passengers across the country.

The DMU trains will be air-conditioned and will run at high speeds of up to 160 km/h, with the main route being Lahore to Lalamusa to Rawalpindi. These trains are expected to cut down travel time and provide a better experience for daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

The project will be carried out through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). This means that private companies will handle the investment, purchase, and financing of the trains, while Pakistan Railways will provide the tracks and manage train operations. By working together, both public and private sectors aim to bring world-class rail services to the country.

Each DMU train will have a seating capacity of 380 passengers, giving more people access to quick and comfortable transport. These trains are not just about comfort—they are part of a bigger goal to improve public transport, support economic development, and reduce traffic congestion on roads.

By upgrading the railway system with these new trains, Pakistan Railways is aiming to bring major changes to how people travel. It’s a step toward modernizing the transport infrastructure and offering more reliable and faster options to the public.

This initiative shows the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens through better transportation, and it’s expected to benefit both the economy and the environment in the long run.
