Monsoon rains in Pakistan have increased by 73% this year, showing clear signs of changing climate patterns and higher disaster risks. This was shared by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab.

DG Irfan Ali Kathiya reported that in Punjab alone, 165 people have sadly lost their lives this season due to lightning strikes, electrocution, and drowning incidents caused by heavy rainfall. He said people need to be very careful as 4 to 5 more rain spells are expected in the coming weeks.

Urban flooding remains a serious worry, especially in major cities like Lahore where heavy downpours can quickly flood roads and low-lying areas. The PDMA has asked citizens to stay alert and avoid going into areas that are known to flood easily during heavy rain.

Emergency response teams are ready to help in case of any dangerous situation, and the government has promised to support the families of those who lost their lives according to official policies.

The authorities have also said they are keeping a close watch on weather changes and will keep people informed through timely updates. People have been advised to follow safety guidelines, check weather forecasts, and stay away from streams and open electric wires during storms.

Officials say this year’s unusual rain pattern shows how important it is to be prepared for changing weather conditions. With more heavy rain expected, everyone is urged to stay safe and help others by reporting any emergencies or dangers immediately.
