Pakistan’s Sohail achieved a remarkable victory by winning the gold medal in the 47kg classic bench press event at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship, held in Sun City, South Africa. Her sister, Veronica Sohail, also made Pakistan proud by earning a bronze medal in the 52kg category.
The championship, taking place from October 4 to 13, brings together athletes from 15 Commonwealth nations, including Australia, England, and India. Pakistan’s powerlifting team includes Sybil, Veronica, and their teammate Twinkle Sohail, who will compete in other events.
Additionally, Pakistan’s gold medalist Muhammad Nooh Dastagir Butt, along with Hasnain Raza Haider Ali and Dr. Adnan, are also set to represent the country in various categories. The team is expected to head to South Africa on October 6 for the competition.
These victories highlight Pakistan’s strength in the world of powerlifting and raise hopes for further success in the tournament.
