Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Finalised

Sources have revealed that Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been decided. The team, led by Babar Azam, includes several key players and a few reserves to ensure a strong performance in the tournament.

Squad Details

Babar Azam will captain the 15-member squad, which features pacer Haris Rauf, who has recovered from an injury. The squad is as follows:

  • Babar Azam (c)
  • Fakhar Zaman
  • Mohammad Rizwan
  • Usman Khan
  • Azam Khan
  • Imad Wasim
  • Shadab Khan
  • Saim Ayub
  • Iftikhar Ahmed
  • Abrar Ahmed
  • Shaheen Afridi
  • Mohammad Amir
  • Naseem Shah
  • Abbas Afridi
  • Haris Rauf

Additionally, Hasan Ali, Salman Ali Agha, and Irfan Khan will travel with the team as reserves.

PCB will officially announce the squad after the first T20I match against England on May 22. The International Cricket Council has set a deadline of May 25 for announcing the 15-member World Cup squad.

Group and Matches

The T20 World Cup 2024 features four groups. Pakistan is in Group A with India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. Other groups include top teams like England, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The national team will start their World Cup campaign against the USA in Dallas on June 6. The much-anticipated match against India will take place on June 9 in New York.

Preparation and Schedule

Before the World Cup, Pakistan will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to 30. This series is crucial as it will serve as the final preparation before the World Cup begins.

Here is Pakistan’s schedule for the T20 World Cup 2024:

  • June 6: Pakistan vs. USA, Dallas
  • June 9: Pakistan vs. India, New York
  • June 11: Pakistan vs. Canada, New York
  • June 16: Pakistan vs. Ireland, Lauderhill

Importance of the Series

The T20I series against England holds significant importance as it precedes the World Cup by only two days. Both teams will use this series to fine-tune their strategies and finalize their playing XIs.
