PayFast, Unity Retail and SLGTrax Launch “Rah-e-Raast” — Pakistan’s First Merchant-Friendly Raast QR Payment Solution

In a joint effort to advance Pakistan’s digital commerce infrastructure, PayFast, SLGTrax, and Unity Retail have announced the launch of “Rah-e-Raast”, a pioneering initiative enabling merchant-friendly Raast QR payments with next-day settlements and real-time visibility for all stakeholders.

“Rah-e-Raast”, meaning the path to Raast, marks a new milestone in Pakistan’s digital payments journey. It enables customers to pay at the time of delivery by scanning a dynamic Raast QR code printed on their parcel / airway bill, with funds settled directly into the merchant’s account by the next business day, eliminating the delays and reconciliation challenges associated with cash-on-delivery.

When a customer scans the dynamic QR code, the payment is instantly processed via PayFast. Unity Retail then processes the instant payment notification and sends a real-time confirmation to the SLGTrax rider at the doorstep, enabling immediate order completion. Simultaneously, Unity Retail’s platform updates the merchant’s ERP and fulfillment systems for accurate reconciliation and operational visibility.

Serving as the connective backbone of the collaboration, Unity Retail ensures that every transaction flows seamlessly between merchant systems, the payment gateway, and logistics providers. Each parcel label generated through Unity Retail includes a unique, transaction-specific QR code that embeds the amount, merchant details, and verification prompts to ensure customer trust and payment accuracy.

“Through Rah e Raast, we’re redefining how payments are made at the last mile” said Adnan Ali, CEO of PayFast. “By combining Raast QR with the Unity Retail solution, businesses can now experience seamless, transparent, and efficient delivery payments all while reducing dependency on cash.”

Mohsin Ali, Head of Commercial at SLGTrax added, “This partnership represents a major step forward in digitizing Pakistan’s logistics sector. Together with PayFast, we’re building a smarter and faster delivery experience for both customers and merchants.”

Atif Sami, CEO of Unity Retail said, “We visualized this model of payment-on-delivery through digital rails nearly eight years ago, and Rah-e-Raast is the realization of that vision. Earlier QR-based payment pilots failed because they worked in silos and overlooked the merchant’s interests. By unifying payments, logistics, and merchant systems in real time, we’ve finally made instant payments practical, sustainable, and merchant-first.”

“Rah-e-Raast” marks a significant step in Pakistan’s ongoing digital transformation, aligning with the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision for financial inclusion and payment interoperability.

By combining instant payments, logistics integration, and automated reconciliation, the initiative paves the way for a faster, more transparent, and merchant-centric digital economy.
