PCB Chief Revealed Reason Behind Fakhar Zaman’s Drop From Central Contracts

In a surprising move, Fakhar Zaman, one of Pakistan’s prominent cricketers, has been excluded from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) latest central contracts list. This decision has raised eyebrows among cricket fans and analysts alike, leading PCB Chief to address the reason behind Zaman’s removal.

Zaka Ashraf, the Chief of PCB, disclosed that Zaman’s recent performance, along with the board’s strategy for the national team, played key roles in the decision. Fakhar Zaman, an explosive left-handed batsman known for his aggressive play and record-breaking performances, had been an asset to Pakistan’s squad over the years, notably for his contributions in limited-overs cricket. However, his recent form has reportedly been inconsistent, prompting PCB to reassess its contract structure.

Zaka Ashraf emphasized that performance and consistency are crucial criteria for selecting players in the central contracts. Fakhar’s form in recent international assignments reportedly failed to meet the PCB’s expectations, with dips in both his scoring rate and overall impact during games. According to Ashraf, Zaman’s exclusion is part of PCB’s vision to ensure that only the most consistent and reliable performers are rewarded with central contracts.

“Every player who represents Pakistan at an international level holds immense importance to us,” Ashraf explained. “However, we must also hold each individual accountable to maintain standards, and the contracts are a way to recognize players who consistently contribute to the team’s success.”

Ashraf further noted that team dynamics and long-term strategy also influenced this decision. With the evolving demands of international cricket, PCB aims to nurture young, emerging talent while ensuring a balance of experience and potential in the lineup. “We are looking at a holistic approach in the team structure, giving a chance to younger players who have shown remarkable promise and consistency,” Ashraf added.

The PCB’s vision also emphasizes adaptability in different playing conditions and formats, further highlighting the importance of consistent form across all games. This strategy, according to Ashraf, requires players who are adaptable and dependable, regardless of the nature of the opponent or the playing conditions

The omission of Fakhar Zaman has stirred a mix of disappointment and speculation among Pakistani fans. Zaman, who had earned widespread admiration for his fearless batting, remains one of the few players to score a double century in ODIs for Pakistan. His contributions to major tournaments have made him a fan favorite, and his supporters are eager to see him return to form.

Ashraf concluded by assuring fans that Zaman’s exclusion from the central contracts does not necessarily spell the end of his career. “Fakhar is a talented player, and he still has a role in Pakistan’s cricketing future. This decision allows him to focus on refining his game and coming back stronger,” he said.

Fakhar Zaman’s journey with the national team has had its share of highs and lows, but his exclusion from the central contracts serves as a reminder of the competitive environment in Pakistan’s cricketing structure. For now, the onus will be on Zaman to regain his form and prove that he can once again be an invaluable part of Pakistan’s cricket team.
