PCB Issues Fakhar Zaman Show-Cause Notice After Post in Support of Babar Azam

Fakhar Zaman has found himself in a difficult situation with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after Babar Azam was left out of the squad for the second and third Test matches.

Once the news came out, Fakhar took to X to share his concerns. He called Babar’s exclusion “worrying” and suggested that it could send a “very negative message” to the team. Fakhar urged the PCB to focus on “protecting” the players rather than “undermining” them.

In response, the PCB issued a show-cause notice to Fakhar for his public remarks, stating that, as a centrally contracted player, his comments had brought the game into disrepute. The PCB expressed disappointment that Fakhar chose to voice his concerns publicly instead of addressing them privately within the team or management.

So far, Fakhar Zaman has not replied to the notice. The PCB, on their part, clarified that Babar’s exclusion is part of a planned rest to prepare him for the upcoming white-ball series, even though Pakistan is currently trailing 1-0 in the ongoing Test series.

This situation has sparked further debate on how player management and communication are handled within the team and the PCB.
