A petition has been submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC), requesting a ban on widely-used social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. The petitioner has raised concerns about the unregulated use of these platforms, claiming that they are being misused for unethical activities. These include instances of blackmailing, the uploading of inappropriate content, and the creation of controversial videos aimed at earning money.

The petition highlights worries about how such practices are negatively impacting society, including the erosion of traditional family values. According to the petitioner, these platforms are being exploited for financial gains in ways that harm the moral fabric of the community.

In addition to calling for a ban, the petition also suggests implementing mandatory licensing for individuals who upload content on these platforms. It further emphasizes the need to enforce the Citizen Protection Rules to ensure a safer online environment.

Separately, another petition has been filed, urging the restoration of normal internet speeds and access to X (formerly known as Twitter), which has been restricted. These petitions reflect growing concerns about the regulation and management of digital platforms in the country.
