Petrol Prices Increased by Rs. 1 Per Litre Ahead of Eid, New Price: Rs. 253.63/Litre

Just days before Eid, the federal government has announced a small increase in petrol prices. The new price of petrol is now set at Rs. 253.63 per litre, an increase of Rs. 1. This new rate will be in effect for the next 15 days.

However, there is no change in the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD). It will continue to be sold at Rs. 254.64 per litre.

The government shared this update late Monday night. The price adjustment is part of the regular review process that happens every two weeks. These price changes depend on global oil rates and the exchange rate of the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar.

Many people are unhappy about the timing of this price hike. With Eid around the corner, families were hoping for some relief in travel and fuel costs. Instead, the slight increase in petrol rates may add to their financial burden, especially for those planning to travel to their hometowns for the holidays.

Transporters, delivery workers, and daily commuters are expected to feel the most impact of this new rate. While the Rs. 1 increase may seem small, when added to regular travel or business costs, it can still affect people’s budgets.

The unchanged diesel rate brings a bit of relief, especially for the agriculture and transport sectors which rely heavily on diesel.

The new prices will remain effective from June 1 to June 15, after which the government will review them again.
