Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged officials to prioritize the timely completion of the IT Park in Islamabad, along with other key IT sector projects across the country.

In a recent review meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress being made on the IT Park, highlighting its crucial role in enhancing Pakistan’s IT export capabilities. The government has set an ambitious goal of reaching $25 billion in IT exports, and the completion of this park is seen as a significant step towards achieving that target.

The IT Park in Islamabad, developed in collaboration with a Korean partner, is now expected to be completed earlier than planned.

Originally scheduled for completion in June next year, the timeline has been brought forward to February, reflecting the project’s accelerated progress. This move demonstrates the government’s commitment to fast-tracking developments in the IT sector.

In addition to the IT Park, another major project underway in Islamabad is the digital smart city initiative.

This project aims to provide citizens with 150 different services through a mobile app, making it easier for residents to access essential services in a convenient and efficient manner. The digital smart city project is part of a broader strategy to modernize urban living and integrate technology into everyday life.

The Prime Minister also noted the strong performance of Pakistan’s IT sector, which has shown impressive growth in recent times. There has been a 30% increase in IT exports, showcasing the sector’s potential to contribute significantly to the national economy.

Furthermore, around 300,000 new trainees have joined the IT industry, indicating a growing interest in technology-related careers among the country’s youth.

These developments are seen as pivotal in positioning Pakistan as a competitive player in the global IT market. The government’s focus on IT infrastructure and training is expected to drive further growth, create new job opportunities, and ultimately lead to a more digitally advanced nation.
