More than 200 prisoners reportedly escaped from Malir Jail in Karachi after a recent earthquake caused panic inside the prison. According to the Sindh Inspector General of Police, the tremors led to fear and confusion among the inmates and staff, creating a chaotic situation.

During this chaos, several prisoners took advantage of the confusion and managed to break out of the facility. Jail authorities later confirmed that a total of 216 inmates had escaped during the incident.

Since the breakout, law enforcement agencies have been working to track down and recapture the escapees. So far, over 80 of the prisoners have been caught and returned to custody. However, many others are still missing, and search operations are ongoing to locate them.

Officials have stated that the situation is still very serious. Security around the jail has been tightened, and efforts to restore full control of the facility are continuing. The incident has raised major concerns about the safety and security of prisons during emergencies like earthquakes. It has also highlighted the need for stronger emergency response plans to prevent similar situations in the future.
