PTA has made big progress in stopping the use of illegal and fake mobile phones in the country. Using its DIRBS system, the PTA has blocked 826,000 stolen phones and more than 55 million fake or copy handsets from being used on local networks. This step is helping to control illegal phone markets and protect genuine buyers.

Since 2019, Pakistan’s mobile phone industry has grown quickly. So far, 136 million mobile phones have been assembled inside the country. Today, 94% of the phones people use in Pakistan are made locally, which means the country doesn’t have to rely on imports as much as before.

In 2024 alone, local factories produced more than 31 million new phones. This shows how strong the local mobile manufacturing sector has become in just a few years.

There are now 36 local mobile assembly plants in Pakistan, giving jobs to about 60,000 people. This not only helps families earn a living but also supports the national economy. Local mobile production has brought in over Rs. 83 billion in revenue so far, showing how much this industry contributes.

By blocking stolen and fake phones and supporting local assembly, the PTA is helping create a safer and stronger mobile phone market.

These efforts also make sure that people get genuine, good-quality phones and that the country continues to benefit from local production. With these steps, Pakistan’s mobile phone industry looks ready to keep growing in the years to come.
