Punjab Introduces Features to Turn Phones Into Safe City Cameras

Under the “Safe Punjab Vision,” the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has added a new option that lets citizens use their mobile phones as Safe City cameras whenever needed. This feature is available through the “Connect to PSCA” tool in the Safe City mobile app.

With this update, people can share a live video with PSCA officials during an emergency. When someone calls the 15 helpline, the system sends a link that activates the phone’s camera. This allows the control room to see what is happening in real time, helping them make faster and more accurate decisions.

The feature is meant only for serious and urgent situations. Citizens are advised to keep their phone’s location services turned on and avoid sharing video unless there is a real emergency. By involving the public directly, this step strengthens community-based safety and improves how quickly help can reach those who need it.
