LAHORE: In line with the policy of Punjab government to transition towards green energy, the provincial energy department has formally launched an “Endorsement Label” to promote efficient energy use and electricity conservation across the province.

Provincial Minister for Energy Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar on Thursday inaugurated the initiative by pressing a button at a ceremony attended by Secretary Energy Dr Farrukh Naveed and other concerned officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that the government of Punjab is taking practical steps to introduce reforms, transparency, and innovation in the energy sector.

He highlighted that the introduction of ‘Endorsement Label’ will enable consumers to identify energy-efficient and high-quality products, leading to a significant reduction in electricity bills and saving billions of rupees overall. He further said that, in the context of the ongoing energy crisis, this initiative will prove to be a milestone in promoting responsible energy consumption across the province. He urged the public to purchase only those products that carry the officially verified energy department endorsement sticker to contribute towards national energy conservation goals.

The provincial energy minister emphasized that under the “Save Up Punjab” initiative, the government is implementing a comprehensive strategy for energy conservation, focusing on the promotion of modern, environment-friendly, and energy-efficient appliances.

He also announced the launch of a widespread public awareness campaign to educate citizens about efficient energy usage.

Appreciating the efforts of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the energy department team, he stated that such impactful and sustainable initiatives are only possible through strong institutional collaboration. He added that this initiative will benefit both domestic and industrial consumers, ultimately improving the overall energy landscape of Punjab.
