Punjab on High Alert! 70 Lives Lost in 48 Hours Due to Heavy Rain

More than half of Punjab’s rain-related deaths have happened in just the last 48 hours. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 71 new deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of people who have died due to heavy rains to 123 since June 25.

The record-breaking rainfall has caused serious problems in many cities and towns. Over 460 people have been hurt so far because of accidents, falling roofs, and flooding caused by the heavy downpours. Streets in many areas have turned into rivers, and many houses and buildings have been damaged.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that even more heavy rain is expected to start again on July 20. This forecast has made people more worried because more rainfall could lead to more flooding, more injuries, and possibly more loss of life.

Emergency teams are working day and night to help people who are trapped or affected by waterlogging. Rescue workers are using boats and pumps to clear flooded streets and help people move to safer places. Many families have left their homes because the water is too deep.

Officials have asked people living in low-lying areas to stay alert and follow safety instructions. People are also being advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay indoors during heavy rain.

The government is closely watching the situation and has promised to provide help and relief to families affected by this ongoing crisis.
