The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has achieved a record tax collection of Rs22.21 billion in January 2025 under Punjab Sales Tax. This is a 21% increase compared to Rs18.39 billion collected in January 2024.

This is the highest monthly tax collection ever recorded by PRA. The authority’s total tax revenue for the current fiscal year has now reached Rs142 billion. This marks a 12% increase compared to the same period last year.

Several factors have contributed to this growth. Punjab Sales Tax revenue has grown by 10%, showing steady improvement. The Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess has seen a 30% rise, highlighting increased investment in infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund has witnessed a massive 46% jump, reflecting a stronger focus on labor welfare.

This achievement highlights the efficiency of PRA in tax collection and its role in strengthening Punjab’s economy. The authority has been working on improving tax compliance, introducing digital solutions, and creating awareness about the importance of tax contributions.

The increase in revenue will help fund key development projects in the province, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare initiatives. The government aims to continue this upward trend by further streamlining tax collection processes and expanding the tax base.

With this strong performance, PRA is on track to meet its annual revenue targets, ensuring better public services and economic stability in Punjab. This success also reflects growing business activity and improved compliance with tax regulations.
