Punjab to Launch E-Taxi Scheme, 30 E-Taxis Only Reserved for Women

The Punjab government is getting ready to launch its E-Taxi Scheme 2025, which aims to promote environmentally friendly transport while creating new job opportunities for young people. This new plan will make it easier for people to travel in a cleaner, greener way and also help many find work as drivers.

A special part of the scheme is that 30 electric taxis will be set aside only for women drivers. This step is being taken to help women feel safe and confident while working and traveling. It also shows the government’s goal of making public transport safer and more inclusive for everyone.

In the first phase of this project, 1,100 electric taxis will be given out without any interest on loans, which means drivers won’t have to pay extra money when paying back the cost. These eco-friendly taxis will be locally assembled by Dewan Motors, which will also help boost the local electric vehicle industry.

The plan pays special attention to women, people with disabilities, and those living in rural areas so that everyone has a fair chance to benefit. In addition to this, a wide network of charging stations will be built across Punjab to make sure that electric taxis can be charged easily without any trouble.

Officials believe that this scheme will not only help reduce pollution but also cut fuel costs for drivers and passengers. With the E-Taxi Scheme 2025, Punjab hopes to take an important step towards a cleaner, safer, and more equal transport system for all.
