The Punjab government is making great progress on an exciting new project: the glass train that will run between Rawalpindi and Bhurban in Murree. To ensure the smooth execution of this project, a working group has been set up, which includes 18 different departments. This group is led by the transport minister and includes key officials such as the Rawalpindi commissioner, the deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi and Murree, as well as heads of various departments.

The planned train route is 65 kilometers long, starting from Saddar in Rawalpindi and traveling through some of the most scenic areas of the region. The train will pass through the beautiful Margalla Hills and Barakahu, before reaching its final stop in Bhurban, a popular tourist destination in Murree.

The National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) has been assigned the responsibility of carrying out a feasibility study to assess the technical and financial aspects of the project. This study will help determine how the project can be implemented in the most efficient way.

The project officially received the green light from Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, on June 29, 2024, as part of a larger Murree Development Plan. The glass train is expected to be a key feature in boosting tourism and providing a scenic and modern travel experience for both locals and visitors. The project also aims to enhance connectivity between Rawalpindi and Murree, making it easier for people to visit the hill station and enjoy its natural beauty.

With the project now moving forward, the government is focused on ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to turn this ambitious vision into reality. Once completed, the glass train is expected to become a major attraction, offering a unique travel experience while promoting tourism in the region.
