Punjab Wildlife Rangers have rescued more than 35,000 animals and birds between March 2024 and September 2025 as part of strong action against illegal wildlife activities across the province.

During this period, the wildlife department registered 3,749 cases related to illegal hunting, trapping, and keeping animals in captivity. Authorities imposed fines worth Rs. 766 million and recovered Rs. 695.85 million through settlements, showing a serious crackdown on wildlife crimes.

The rescued animals included bears, lions, tigers, pangolins, and different species of snakes. Many birds were also saved, such as sparrows, mynas, vultures, and falcons. Most of these animals and birds were found trapped illegally or kept in unlawful captivity.

Chief Wildlife Ranger Mubeen Elahi said that all rescued animals and birds were provided proper medical care and treatment. After recovery, they were safely released back into their natural habitats. He added that the department is not only taking strict legal action but is also running awareness campaigns to educate people about wildlife protection and the importance of conserving endangered species.

Officials have made it clear that operations against illegal hunting and wildlife trade will continue, and violators will face firm action under the law.
