The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has officially announced that the new moon of Ramadan 1447 AH is expected to appear on February 17 at 5:01 PM (PST). Based on these calculations, the moon is likely to be sighted on the evening of February 18, which corresponds to the 29th of Shaban in the Islamic calendar.

Weather forecasts indicate that conditions across the country are expected to be partly cloudy or generally fair, providing favorable circumstances for moon-sighting activities. This is particularly relevant for provinces including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan, where communities will eagerly look to the skies to mark the beginning of the holy month.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with its zonal committees, will carry out thorough verification of moon sightings before making the official announcement regarding the start of Ramadan. This traditional and religious process ensures that the month of fasting begins in accordance with Islamic guidelines.

Once Ramadan is officially declared, millions of Muslims in Pakistan and around the world will begin their fasts, prayers, and acts of charity, observing one of the most sacred and spiritually significant periods in the Islamic calendar. Families and communities will come together, embracing the month as a time for reflection, devotion, and service to others.
