The federal government has appointed Secretary Power Division Rashid Mahmood Langrial as the new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), a notification said on Wednesday.
“Mr. Rashid Mahmood, a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Secretary, Power Division, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, is transferred and posted as Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate effect and until further orders,” the notification read.
Langrial will succeed Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana who was at the helm board since his appointment in August, 2023.
Tiwana sought early retirement from the service with effect from August 15 – six months ahead of reaching the age of superannuation.
Earlier, media had reported that the names under circulation for the post of FBR chief included Hamid Atiq Sarwar, Advisor (Revenue) in Revenue Mobilisation, Investment and Trade Programme by FCDO UK, Faiz Chaddar, Director General (DG) Customs Academy, and Secretary Power Rashid Langrial.
