Rawalpindi Set to Begin RS. 8 Billion Underpass Project in January

Rawalpindi is preparing to start a major Rs8 billion underpass project on Peshawar Road in January to help reduce the heavy traffic that thousands of people face every day. This busy road often remains packed, so the city plans to build three new underpasses at Race Course Park Square, Army Graveyard Square, and Chairing Cross. These underpasses are part of a bigger plan to create a completely signal-free route from Ammar Chowk all the way to Motorway Chowk, making travel faster and smoother.

The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) will receive work orders in December so construction can begin on time. Since more than 250,000 commuters use this road daily, traffic diversions will be arranged to manage the flow during construction. This project is also linked with other ongoing improvements, including upgrades at Kutchery Chowk and GPO Chowk, showing the city’s focus on improving infrastructure and easing travel for the public.
