Rohit Sharma has become the most successful T20I captain, surpassing Babar Azam, after India’s victory over England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final held at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

India is now set to play against South Africa in the final at Kensington Stadium in Barbados on June 29.

Sharma, who is in excellent form, has led India to 49 wins, making him the leading T20I captain in terms of victories. He also stands third in the T20 World Cup runs with a total of 248 runs from seven innings.

During the semi-final, India’s spinners played a crucial role in their win. Both Patel and Kuldeep took three wickets each, helping to bowl out England for just 103 runs. This strong performance by the bowlers put India in a good position.

Even though India lost a few early wickets, Rohit Sharma’s steady batting, scoring 57 runs, along with crucial partnerships, helped guide the team to a total of 171 runs.

With this win, India is now preparing for a challenging final against South Africa, hoping to continue their successful run in the tournament.
