The Council of Islamic Ideology has officially announced the rates for Sadaqatul-Fitr and Fidyah for the holy month of Ramazan 2026, providing clear guidance for Muslims across Pakistan.
According to the council, the minimum Sadaqatul-Fitr amount has been set at Rs300 per person based on the price of wheat flour. For those who choose to pay according to other food items, the rates are Rs1,100 for barley, Rs1,600 for dates, Rs3,800 for raisins, and Rs5,400 for munqa. Individuals using government-subsidized wheat flour may pay a reduced amount of Rs200 per person.
The council also shared details regarding Fidyah, which applies to individuals who are unable to observe fasting due to valid reasons such as chronic illness. The Fidyah for 30 missed fasts starts from Rs9,000 based on wheat and goes up to Rs162,000 when calculated using munqa, depending on the payer’s choice and financial capacity.
Chairperson of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Allama Dr. Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, emphasized that those who are financially well-off should contribute generously and pay Sadaqatul-Fitr and Fidyah according to their means, in order to provide meaningful support to the underprivileged segments of society during Ramazan.
The council also clarified the ruling on Kaffarah (expiation) for deliberately breaking a fast without a valid reason. In such cases, a person is required either to observe 60 consecutive fasts or to feed 60 needy individuals two full meals each.
