Russia Expands E-Visa Program to 64 Countries

Russia has announced a significant expansion of its electronic visa (e-Visa) program, increasing the number of eligible countries to 64. This move aims to simplify travel procedures and attract more international visitors.

Under the new changes, citizens from 11 additional countries, including Barbados, Bhutan, Jordan, Kenya, and Papua New Guinea, will soon be able to apply for an e-Visa to enter Russia.

The decision was made official with an order signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishoustin on December 5.

This expansion is part of Russia’s broader efforts to enhance tourism and streamline entry processes for travelers. However, two countries—Andorra and Serbia—have been removed from the e-Visa program as they now benefit from visa-free travel agreements with Russia.

The e-Visa program offers a quick and straightforward way for eligible travelers to apply for entry online, bypassing the more complicated traditional visa process. It covers various purposes of travel, including tourism, business, and humanitarian visits.

The list of eligible countries now includes nations from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, reflecting Russia’s commitment to fostering global connectivity. Among the countries granted e-Visa access are Austria, China, India, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam.

By expanding the e-Visa program, Russia hopes to boost its appeal as a travel destination and make its borders more accessible to visitors from across the world. The updated program is expected to encourage cultural exchange and strengthen Russia’s ties with participating nations.
