Salman Ali Agha, captain of the Pakistan cricket team admitted that weak batting was the main reason behind their defeat to India in the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan started brightly with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman piling up 84 runs before the halfway mark. Farhan stood out with an aggressive 57 off 38 balls but once he was dismissed, Pakistan’s innings fell apart.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav and others exploited the pressure which lead to a dramatic collapse where Pakistan lost eight wickets for only 33 runs. The team was bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs.

Although the bowlers fought back hard, reducing India to 20 for three in the first four overs, Pakistan could not defend the low total. Tilak Varma’s unbeaten knock steered India home with just two balls to spare.

Speaking after the match, Agha praised his bowlers for showing spirit but stressed that the batting line-up needed urgent improvement. He pointed out that failure to rotate strike and frequent wickets cost Pakistan the final.

The captain expressed pride in his team’s overall effort but promised changes in the batting department. He assured fans that Pakistan would learn from this setback and return stronger in future tournaments.
