The moon of Shaban 1446 Hijri has been officially sighted in Pakistan, marking the start of the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. This means that January 31, 2024, will be observed as the first day of Shaban.

The announcement was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday. The meeting was led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and committee members reviewed credible reports of the moon sighting before confirming the beginning of Shaban.

Shaban is an important month for Muslims as it prepares them for Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam. According to current estimates, Ramadan is expected to start on March 1, 2024. However, its exact date will be confirmed after the sighting of the Ramadan moon.

One of the most significant nights in Shaban is Shab-e-Barat, observed on the 15th night of the month. Muslims across the world spend this night in prayer, seeking forgiveness and blessings.

The sighting of the moon plays a key role in determining the Islamic calendar, as it marks the start of important religious months. Muslims in Pakistan and around the world will now begin preparing for Ramadan, a time of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
