Today marks the 74th death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first Prime Minister and one of the most respected leaders in the country’s history.

His contributions to the creation and early development of Pakistan continue to be remembered with great admiration and respect.

Liaquat Ali Khan was born in Karnal in 1895. He received his early education in India and later pursued higher studies at Aligarh Muslim University.

His passion for learning and his deep sense of responsibility toward his nation led him to continue his education at Oxford University in England, where he further developed his political understanding and leadership skills.

Upon returning to the subcontinent, Liaquat Ali Khan became one of the most trusted and close associates of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Together, they played a central role in the Pakistan Movement, working tirelessly for the establishment of a separate homeland for Muslims. Liaquat Ali Khan’s dedication, honesty, and vision earned him the title “Shaheed-e-Millat,” meaning “Martyr of the Nation.”

As Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, he laid the foundation of the country’s political and economic policies, focusing on unity, faith, and discipline. Unfortunately, his life was cut short in 1951 when he was assassinated during a public gathering at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi — a place later renamed Liaquat Bagh in his honor.

Today, the nation pays tribute to Liaquat Ali Khan for his patriotism, leadership, and sacrifices. His legacy remains a guiding light for Pakistan, reminding future generations of the values upon which the country was built integrity, service and devotion to the nation.
