His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated on Monday, Victoria International School Sharjah (VISS) located in Tilal, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
Upon his arrival, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah unveiled the memorial plaque, toured the school, met students from different grades, and learned about the level and methods of teaching children and their integration into the school curricula.
Sheikh Sultan visited the theatre hall, inspecting its facilities, which are equipped with the latest devices and technologies that help the school organise various educational and recreational events and activities.
The Ruler of Sharjah inspected the air-conditioned sports hall and the sports equipment designated for students.
He concluded his tour by visiting the primary classes section, where he observed student engagement with various subjects taught by teachers using modern and interactive educational technologies that enhance skills and reinforce knowledge.
Victoria International School Sharjah in Tilal is the fifth branch of VSSS in the Emirate of Sharjah, which can accommodate 1,000 male and female students and consists of the administrative building, which includes offices, a meeting room, a training room, first aid rooms, a doctors’ room, service health facilities, in addition to the early learning centre, kindergarten primary education classes, teachers’ rooms, an innovation centre, a science, technology and music centre, covered playgrounds, a swimming pool, health facilities, and a multi-purpose hall.
Sheikh Sultan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian state of Victoria, represented by Ambassador Ridwan Jadwat, to enhance cooperation and provide curricula, including International Baccalaureate studies, for students at Victoria International School in Sharjah.
According to the MoU, the Australian state of Victoria will follow up on the mechanism and teaching methods at the school through specialised committees that will monitor and evaluate Victoria International Schools braches in the Emirate of Sharjah to ensure the application of the Australian curriculum to students at the school, in addition to providing training programmes to develop the skills of administrative and teaching staff.
The opening was attended by Sheikh Saud Bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, CEO of Real Estate Sector at Sharjah Asset Management (SAM); Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department; Radwan Jadwat, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia to the UAE; Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, Director of Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA); and several officials in the education sector and the diplomatic corps.
