Sri Lanka shares end lower as communication stocks weigh

BENGALURU: Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Monday, dragged by losses in communication services stocks.

The CSE All Share index settled down 0.12% at 11,619.01, falling for three straight sessions.

Malwatte Valley Plantations and Serendib Hotels were the top percentage losers on the index, falling 14.4% and 6.5%, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 12.6 million shares from 31.4 million in the previous session.

Sri Lanka shares inch down ahead of presidential election

The equity market’s turnover fell to 376.7 million Sri Lankan rupees ($1.2 million) from 575.5 million rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 22.5 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 356 million rupees, the data showed.
