Sri Lankan shares end lower as materials stocks weigh

Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Monday, as losses in materials stocks outpaced gains in most sub-indexes.

The CSE All-Share Index settled 0.38% lower at 17,360.19, extending losses for a second straight session.

Sri Lanka’s economy grew 4.8% on-year in the first three months of 2025, official data showed on Monday.

Amana Takaful Life and Autodrome were the top percentage losers on the benchmark index, down 8.3% and 7.6%, respectively.

Sri Lankan shares decline as IT leads losses; logs tenth weekly gain

Trading volume on the index fell to 149.5 million shares from 164.8 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover dropped to 3.15 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($10.48 million) from 4 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 167.9 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 3.06 billion rupees, the data showed.
