Sri Lankan shares end lower for third straight session

BENGALURU: Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Monday, dragged by losses in consumer discretionary and financials stocks.

The CSE All Share index settled down 1% at 23,223.68 rupees, closing lower for third straight session.

Ceylinco Holdings PLC and Sathosa Motors PLC were the top percentage losers on the CSE All Share, down 13.7% and 11.2%, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 138.7 million shares from 218.8 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover declined to 4.46 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($14.54 million) from 5.62 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers of stocks worth 264.1 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 4.35 billion rupees, the data showed.
