Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, attended the graduation ceremony for the bachelor’s degree students from the medical and health sciences faculties at the University of Sharjah (UoS). The ceremony took place on Tuesday in the University City Hall, celebrating a total of 734 graduates.

The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem, followed by a recitation of the Holy Quran.

Dr Hamid Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, then delivered a speech expressing gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his patronage and for honouring the graduation of the students, including doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and various healthcare specialists.

Dr Al Nuaimi highlighted the special status of the medical and health sciences colleges since their establishment by the university’s founder, His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He pointed out that Tuesday’s celebration of this new cohort of graduates is a testament to their learning, training, and skill acquisition in the finest medical complexes in the region, equipped with the latest devices, equipment, and tools for scientific research and development, such as the University Hospital, the University Dental Hospital, and several distinguished research and medical centres for medical and health fields, including the Sharjah Institute for Medical Research.

Concluding his speech, Dr Al Nuaimi addressed the graduates, reminding them of all those who supported them throughout their academic journey and helped them reach this achievement. He stated, “Today we celebrate an achievement that is the fruit of immense efforts, with parents playing a significant role worthy of praise. On behalf of all of you, I extend our gratitude to your esteemed parents for their sacrifices and support, enabling you all to stand in this memorable position, filled with pride and honour.”

In the presence of Sheikh Sultan, the graduates of the medical and health programmes took an oath at the conclusion of the graduation ceremony, promising to carry out their responsibilities in these fields with honesty and integrity.

The total number of graduates holding bachelor’s degrees from the medical and health sciences colleges was 734, including 135 from the College of Medicine, 104 from the College of Dentistry, 120 from the College of Pharmacy, and 375 from the College of Health Sciences.
