Apple’s latest M2-based 15-inch MacBook Air laptops haven’t been out long. They’ve just launched in 2023, yet you can already save $200. You’ll find this discount for both the 256GB ($1,299 $1,099) and 512GB ($1,499 $1,299) models. This is the best price we’ve seen for the 15-inch model yet, besting the previous low by $100.
We haven’t tested the 15-inch model yet, but if it’s anything like the nearly identical 13-inch unit we raved about in our MacBook Air M2 review late last year, you’re in for a treat. We rarely see discounts on new Apple products so early, making this one of the best cheap MacBook deals you’ll find right now, and it’s timely with back-to-school season in full swing.

You’ve never seen a 15-inch MacBook this cheap
While the 15-inch form factor was once exclusive to the MacBook Pro, its price tag might have incentivized you to hide your wallet from yourself. We’d wager most people will be happy with the 15-inch MacBook Air. For $1,099, you’re getting the same computing power as the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro’s M2 chipset, but with a 15.3-inch display historically reserved for the more powerful MacBook Pro (M2 Pro) models that start around $2,000.
You can’t exactly consider the 15-inch Air a true MacBook Pro replacement in other respects. It doesn’t have the additional power afforded by M2 Pro silicone (it still manages heavy workloads more than respectably), it lacks the HDMI port and SD card slot you’ll find on the more expensive models, and there’s no internal fan. Also, there are only two Thunderbolt 4 ports, so plan on buying a dock or dongle if your workflow demands several peripherals.
Apple advertises an 18-hour battery life on the 15-inch Air, which isn’t the absolute best in a MacBook, but still very impressive.

For computing power, you have 8GB of RAM and a blistering fast M2 chip (8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, representing a 3-core GPU upgrade for the MacBook Air compared to yesteryear’s model). It’s remarkable that we even have a 15-inch MacBook this cheap. It’s unlikely to get better than this until perhaps Black Friday (even then, we wouldn’t expect dramatically better savings), so don’t hesitate to purchase if you’ve been eyeing one.
